Julia and James had an absolutely gorgeous fall day for their engagement photos at a private residence in the Highlands, North Carolina. The leaves were at their peak, the weather was perfect and the mountain views definitely didn’t disappoint! Destination engagement sessions are quickly becoming one of my favorites to capture, and it was so much fun to explore the breathtaking mountain views with these two.
And on top of enjoying the mountains on a perfect fall day, I truly loved getting to know these two kind souls. Julia and James are caring, sincere and thoughtful (with amazing style to boot). I’m so thankful for the chance to get to know them & capture their wedding story as well!
Tell me your story – “[Julia & James] first met when James moved back to Athens after completing his medical fellowship. Julia used to work for James’ dad while she was in college and he asked Julia if she could help his son while he was getting his medical practice set up. Julia was James’ very first employee and they worked together for 2 months before they went on their first date! They started dating and Julia moved to Charleston to begin PA school. Their love has lasted the distance and Julia will be moving back to Athens when she graduates.”
Julia, what do you love most about James? – “From the second I met James, I knew he was a genuine, kind, and loving person. What began as respect and admiration soon turned into love. He is the most humble, intelligent, and hardworking person I know. He always makes time to try new experiences and finds ways to make me feel special. James is my number one encourager and I am so excited to see where life takes us!”
James, what do you love most about Julia? – “Julia is always so cheerful and enthusiastic. She is very intelligent and is always challenging herself to pursue new endeavors : whether it’s mastering a new Italian or Mexican recipe or learning complex medical diagnostic techniques. I admire how she sees everything she does to the end. Julia is very conscientious and sees the best in every person she meets. I love her so much and am so blessed to one day call her my wife.”
About the Proposal – “James always knew that he wanted to marry Julia. He wanted to do something more intimate and private, so he wrote a letter detailing the progression of their relationship and how much he valued and loved Julia. After talking to her parents on the phone, James decided to propose to Julia in Charleston. James proposed to Julia at her apartment and afterwards they met her family and celebrated the engagement.”
Congrats again, Julia & James! Looking forward to capturing your Athens wedding!
