Alexa and Brent’s wedding at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Marietta, GA was such a wonderful day! I first met Brent when he was a groomsmen in Emily & Oliver’s wedding about a year & a half ago, and I was so excited when Alexa reached out to me about capturing her & Brent’s wedding day! It’s always such a blast when I get to know a great friend group like theirs and icing on the cake when I get to see and work with them over the course of time!
Alexa & Brent met the first day of Physical therapy school, though they don’t remember meeting each other that day! Later, at their first class social, they went bowling and became good friends! Over the next couple of years, Alexa helped Brent with his school schedule and he kept her laughing! At the end of their second year of PT school, they’d grown a lot closer and realized that their great friendship could be something more. In the spring of 2016 they started dating & stayed together through the challenges of dating long distance through clinical rotations and eventually taking jobs in different cities. But despite the challenges, they stayed together & supported each other through it all!
Over the course of their time in school, it became a tradition to watch the Bachelor together within their friend group, and Brent even asked Alexa if she would “accept this rose” on their first date together (just like on the show). Then, in June of 2018, while on a beach trip in Hilton Head with Alexa’s family, Brent took Alexa on a sunset walk on the beach that ended at a little table that’d been set up with the ring and a rose like the one he’d given her on their first date. Once there, he got down on one knee and asked Alexa to marry him!
Alexa and Brent are really cute together! Brent’s calm nature and Alexa’s caring spirit make it easy to work with and quickly get along with the pair. I also love their curious and adventurous side! They are both sweet and silly, and it was such a blast to see them have so much fun together over the course of the wedding day!
The day began at Alexa’s parent’s home where she and the bridesmaids got ready! Hair and makeup was in full swing when I arrived and began photographing Alexa’s bridal details! Once everyone was ready, Alexa slipped into her gown with the help of her Mom. From the buttons down the back to the layers in the skirt, Alexa’s gown was absolutely stunning, and the photos of her getting ready with Mom are some of my favorites! Afterwards, Alexa had a Bridesmaids Reveal with her girls and I loved everyone’s excited reactions! Then, it was time for a first look with her Dad. They were so sweet together!
Then, it was off to Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church! Once there, we did a few photos with Brent before he and Alexa shared their First Look! I love that they opted to see each other before the ceremony; their interactions were so sweet, and I loved that Alexa even shared a silly surprise of wearing bedazzled white crocs under her dress as a joke for Brent during their First Look! Haha! After taking bride and groom photos, it was time to incorporate the wedding party! They were such a great group, a real testament to the character of Alexa & Brent!
The ceremony was in the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, and stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the rich color and gorgeous iconography that differed from other churches I’ve been in previously. It was an absolutely stunning place of worship and fit perfectly with Alexa & Brent’s liturgical ceremony. I loved capturing the unique traditions including the exchanging of the crowns, and walking around the altar before Alexa and Brent joyfully recessed as the new Mr. and Mrs. Davis!
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the courtyard as we took family photographs. Then, it was time for the reception! Once guests were seated, parents, wedding party and the Bride & Groom entered the reception to excitement of all, and many high fives were exchanged along the way! Then, Alexa & Brent shared their first dance, followed by the parent dances. After dinner and the cake cutting, the party really kicked off with Greek dancing! And then, we finished Bride and Groom photos in gorgeous sunset light!
Alexa and Brent – capturing your day was such a joy! You guys are so much fun to work with and be around, just thinking about you guys and your interactions on the wedding day brings a smile to my face! Thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding day memories! I’m so excited for you guys as you begin this journey into married life, and I truly believe the best is yet to come! Continue to build on the beautiful foundation of friendship that you guys have laid! I’m so happy for you guys! Much love and appreciation – Carrie Joy
