Erica & Alan’s wedding at the Greystone at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA was absolutely stunning! When I first chatted with Erica about the wedding, I remember how she wanted to celebrate the spring season in her floral and design choices, and it was so exciting to see everything come together in such a beautiful way! I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Erica & Alan over the course of their engagement! We had a blast hiking down to a waterfall for their engagement session last summer, and their wedding was even more fun!
Erica and Alan met the summer before starting graduate school at Emory University. What began as a friendship evolved into more about halfway through physical therapy school, and in January 2018, Alan asked Erica to be his wife while on a hike with their sweet pup Emmett at Sweetwater Creek State Park!
The wedding day began with Erica and the girls getting ready at the Marriot Suites Midtown. Music played and the girls drank champagne and mimosas out of customized champagne flutes that had each girl’s name on it! I love how genuinely excited Erica was about each aspect of the wedding day! When hair and makeup was done, she popped into the room where I was shooting details to see how everything was going! (Brides who love details are girls after my own heart!) Once hair and makeup was complete, Erica slipped into her gorgeous Pronovias gown with her grandmother and Matron of Honor. After she was ready, Dad came in for a First Look with his daughter, and as always, I had to work hard to keep back tears! Then, Erica walked out to see the rest of her bridesmaids for the first time in her gown, and everyone squealed with delight! She was an absolute vision!
Meanwhile, Amanda took photos of Alan getting ready and hanging out with the rest of the groomsmen before we all headed over to the Greystone at Piedmont Park for the remainder of the day! Once at the Greystone, it was time for Erica & Alan’s First Look! I love when couple’s opt to see each other before the ceremony, and with azaleas spilling over the ivy wall and a backdrop of dogwood trees, the setting was the epitome of spring beauty! After taking photos of the couple together with the Atlanta skyline, we transitioned into wedding party and family photos! The classic black tuxes and gorgeous blue gowns looked amazing with the spring bouquets and boutonnieres!
After photos, Erica & Alan took time to sign the Ketubah with their closest family and friends before their beautiful outdoor ceremony on the terrace. A string quartet played as Erica walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, and Alan’s face was beaming with joy at the end of the aisle! Sunlight glistened on the trees behind them as Erica & Alan were wed in a traditional Jewish ceremony. After breaking the glass, Erica and Alan shared their first kiss as husband and wife!
From there, we headed over to the gazebo for some portraits of the newlyweds in gorgeous golden light before the reception! Sunlight filtered through the trees and glistened off the lake around them as Erica and Alan shared those first moments together as a married couple! Then, everyone headed back inside for food & cocktails while we captured reception decor! Romantic candlelight glistened off the ivory and blue linen, and pretty spring arrangements in white, pale pink and blue lined the tables! Following introductions and first dances, everyone shared dinner together before dancing the night away to the musical stylings of the Emerald Empire Band! The Horah was especially memorable, and I found myself smiling ear to ear as first Erica & Alan and then their families were hoisted into the air! What a night!
Erica & Alan – You guys have been such a joy to get to know! I love the care and support you show everyone around you! You compliment each other so well, and I love the joy and excitement for life and adventure you share! Thank you so much for the privilege of capturing your beautiful wedding day! From your First Look to the Horah, I had such a blast capturing and being a part of it all! I’m excited for all that’s to come for you guys as you continue life’s journey as a married couple, and I hope that the photos will be a lovely reminder of the joy you shared on Day 1 of your marriage! Much love and appreciation – Carrie Joy
