Leah and Thomas’ wedding at the Greystone at Piedmont Park was the perfect way to end my 2018 wedding season! From the moment I chatted with Leah, I knew I was going to love her wedding! Not only was she getting married at one of my favorite Atlanta venues but her bridesmaids were also wearing dresses in my favorite color (teal for the win!). And, the fact that she fell in love with the look and feel of Caitlyn & Mark’s Greystone wedding was simply icing on the cake!
Leah and Thomas are so much fun together! Their overall kindness and fun personalities make them an absolute joy to be around! Thomas is laid back and funny, and I love the way he made Leah smile and laugh throughout the day! Leah is fun loving and kind. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of from checking (and insisting) that we took time to eat to passing out water bottles to the entire vendor team during the reception. And, Thomas and Leah really took time to love on all their family and friends in attendance, and it was so refreshing to witness!
The day began with Leah and the girls getting ready at the W Midtown. I love starting the day styling and photographing all the bridal details, and I had so much fun capturing everything from the golden rings to the illustrated invitation suite while hair and makeup wrapped up! Corryn also popped over to capture Thomas and the guys hanging out. From popping champagne to watching soccer, the guys had a blast!
Once everyone was ready, it was time to head over to the Greystone at Piedmont Park! We started with bridal portraits of Leah! From the light to the various colors of the leaves, the setting was absolutely perfect! From the gorgeous lace texture to the long sleeves and open back, Leah’s Melissa Sweet gown was absolutely stunning on her and perfect for a November soiree! After some individual photos with each of the bridesmaids, it was time for Leah & Thomas’ First Look! The moment was so sweet, just like them. As the leaves crunched under their feet, they met each other for the sweetest hug and slipped naturally into portraits together!
After Bride and Groom portraits along the ivy wall & in the gazebo (which was absolutely stunning with the reflection of the leaves on the water – be still my heart!), it was time for wedding party and family photos before the ceremony! I’m so, so glad that Leah and Thomas opted for a First Look and did most of their photos before the ceremony! Now that the sun is setting so much earlier, this meant that they’d still get beautiful natural light photos with everyone (and bonus, friends and family could head right inside for cocktails after the ceremony!).
The ceremony was held on the steps just outside the Greystone with a stunning view of the Atlanta skyline beyond. Soft light filtered through the beautiful birch and floral arch by Tulip as they shared their own vows before exchanging rings. Then, with a kiss they were announced as the new Mr. & Mrs. Vania! After the ceremony, we hopped into a golf cart and rode over to the lake for some gorgeous sunset photos of the newlyweds, and it was one of my favorite parts of the entire day! Leah and Thomas were so full of joy, and it seemed like the sun, the leaves and even the geese were celebrating their union!
After portraits, it was off to the reception! From mingling and dinner to heart-felt toasts by so many close to them, it was a night to remember! And, I love that the dancing kicked off with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You!” All in all, it was a beautiful day made even more special by these two kind souls!
Leah and Thomas, what a joy it’s been to get to know you and capture this beautiful day in your lives as a couple! I’m inspired by your kindness both to each other and to everyone you come in contact with, and I love the fun you brought into each and every part of your day! Thank you for the incredible privilege of capturing your wedding! Working with couples like you is what really makes this job a complete joy! Much love and appreciation – Carrie Joy
Leah’s details were so fun to photograph! I love the beautiful gold rings and these gorgeous blue suede heels!
This film photo of Leah is one of my favorites! I just adored the lace sleeves and texture of her gown!
Leah told me she asked for a lot of texture in her bouquet, and I love how it came out, especially against her gown!
This is another of my favorites of Leah; I love the way the jeweled belt sets the whole dress off!
Leah and Thomas opted for a First Look together before their ceremony, and I adore the love and joy you can see on their faces once they saw each other!
Isn’t this a classy look for a late fall wedding?! I just adore the teal dresses and bow ties!
This birch and floral ceremony arch is absolutely dreamy and looked beautiful against the modern skyline!
Isn’t this a gorgeous spot for a wedding ceremony?! The soft sunset light was absolutely perfect!
After the ceremony, we headed over to the lake for some sunset photos with the newlyweds, and it was one of my favorite moments of the entire day!
After sunset, it was time to head back to the Greystone for the reception! The lush florals and candlelight set a romantic tone for the rest of the evening!
Isn’t this beautiful?! I love how the rich blues provide such a amazing contrast to the neutral design!
Congrats, Leah and Thomas! I’m so happy for you guys!
