As you may remember from last week’s post, our Apartment for the Portugal trip was in the very convenient neighborhood adjacent to the Avenida da Liberdade. It’s said that the Avenida was designed after the Champs-Elysees in Paris, but it definitely has it’s own Portuguese spin! We saw gorgeous tiles all over Lisbon, but along the Avenida da Liberdade the sidewalks were covered completely in a mosaic of tiles that featured a unique and exotic pattern! (You can see some examples of what I mean below – simply stunning!). The buildings along the Avenida are beautiful as well with delicate and ornate details – the perfect home for the high end shops that line the street from Michael Kors to Louis Vitton! We took the first day & a half to explore the neighborhood and get our bearings! Our morning ritual was soon formed – we’d leave the Apartment in the morning and walk to one of the little street kiosks (often Banana Cafe) for some savory empanadas and morning coffee, espresso or fresh fruit juice! I really wish these little kiosks would become popular in the US! It’s one of my favorite things about Lisbon!
Isn’t this corner amazing? The light was simply stunning!
The film I used for the photos in this post was a mix of Ektar 100 and Portra 800! Happy Tuesday, everyone! Bom Dia!
