Bride on the steps of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center

Katie’s Bridal Session at the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center in Atlanta, GA was the perfect way to end 2020. We met on what was one of the nicest December days I’ve ever experienced – with temperatures in the high sixties, it was incredibly warm & pleasant, even for a city that has […]

The Saturday before Easter, I met Emily, Josh and their adorable pup Libby on what started as a very gray (and somewhat rainy) day in Atlanta. The gray skies totally worked in our favor though – just wait until you see the magical skyline shots laced with fog! I’m so excited for these two – they are sweet and can be adorably silly together! We had so much fun exploring Atlanta during their shoot, and they gave me the opportunity to photograph my first session at the Jackson Street Bridge (the photos are some of my favorites! You’ll have to scroll to see them all!). I can’t wait to see these two tie the knot this October!

Follow along as Emily tells the story of how they met, “We met when I was visiting friends in Boone, NC, and Josh was moving into the house my friends lived in. Josh claims he had love at first sight, but I took more convincing. I went back up a couple of months later to see my friend graduate and realized Josh was graduating also. After that, we started talking and went on our first date a couple of months later. For the next year and a half, there were many long drives between Boone (where I was getting my Master’s) and Washington, DC (where Josh was working). We fell in love spending any weekends we could together. Whether it was exploring the city or watching a movie, any time we spent together was cherished.”

“In May 2014, I graduated and accepted a position with my undergrad alma mater (Kennesaw State University). Josh and I agreed that we were done with long distance and this would be a good opportunity to be together. The next year and a half were filled with several trips, moving into an apartment, and adopting a puppy.”

I just love how Emily’s scarf matched the flowering trees perfectly? Don’t you just adore spring?

“The thing I love most about Emily is how reliable she is. From the long distance part of our relationship to now, Emily has always been there for me. The way she supports her family and friends, and me, is contagious. I can trust her with anything.”

“The thing I love most about Josh is his kindness and enthusiasm about the little things. He is always making sure everyone is happy and helps me to not take life so seriously. I love that he is goofy and brings that side out of me. “

About the Proposal (From Josh): “We rented a cabin in Blue Ridge, GA for Labor Day weekend. Emily had a hunch that it was coming but I waited until Sunday to finally pop the question. We went tubing, explored the town and went hiking.” (continued below)

“On Sunday morning, we went to Fall Branch Falls. We got to the top of the waterfall and I knew it was time. I was not as nervous as I thought I would be. I gave Emily a homemade playing card she gave me for Valentine’s Day last year. The card said, “I can picture our lives together”. She knew what was happening and had a big smile on her face. I dropped down on one knee and Emily covered her mouth with her hands. The moment was perfect.”

Emily & Josh, thank you so much for sharing your story! I can’t wait for your wedding in October!
