Bride on the steps of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center

Katie’s Bridal Session at the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center in Atlanta, GA was the perfect way to end 2020. We met on what was one of the nicest December days I’ve ever experienced – with temperatures in the high sixties, it was incredibly warm & pleasant, even for a city that has […]

Some of my favorite love stories are those that begin with a solid friendship that turns into a romance over time, and that was most certainly the case with Taylor and Nick. Having met and worked with Taylor at Starbucks, I can honestly say that she is one of the sweetest, kindest girls I know. I’m so excited that I get a chance to see her marry her best friend! To get the story behind the engagement, I asked Taylor & Nick a few questions about how the met, what they love about each other and the proposal. Their responses are so sweet and endearing; I know you’ll enjoy seeing a deeper glimpse into their love story! Enjoy it along with some of my favorite shots from their Engagement session below.

“Nick and I met at Starbucks. Although we were both going through a rough time, we immediately connected. I loved his personality, and loved how we became fast friends. We originally started talking when we found out our sisters worked at another Starbucks together, and each of our sisters talked about the idea of us to each other. As we talked more, I realized how much we had in common, but also liked that we could talk about things we didn’t have in common. I learned from him, and I enjoyed how laid back he was (and still is). He was so shy and sweet. When we started dating, he made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. He was always so sweet to me (and still is!), and always treated me with respect. He listened to my problems and offered support when necessary. He stood by my side and lifted my spirits when I was unsure of myself. Nick literally swept me off my feet. I couldn’t help but fall in love. He became my best friend.”

From Nick – “I love that Taylor is intelligent. She understands me and gets me when nobody else does. She makes me feel good about myself, and takes care of me. She’s beautiful and supportive. She stood by me at my worst, and helped me become my best. I couldn’t ask for a better friend, or a better wife. She’s amazing in every way, and makes me incredibly happy.”

About the proposal: Nick graciously invited me to visit New York with his family in September 2012. On September 17, we all decided to walk around Times Square for a bit. His parents and siblings were all dressed up (Nick was, too), and as we walked around, we heard a band playing My Girl. Nick hastily shifted everyone over to where the band was playing. His family walked a few feet away from us, and Nick pulled me to the center of the music. He kissed me, told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend forever with me, and dropped to one knee. He popped the question as I stood in disbelief. Of course I said yes as the song finished, and everyone around us suddenly began applauding and cheering. It was so surreal and amazing. Definitely something right out of a movie, and something that will put a permanent smile on my face. Although our relationship was tested after the proposal, we came out stronger and healthier as a couple.

“I love that Nick can make me laugh all day. I love Nick’s mind. He is honestly the most insightful and incredibly intelligent man I’ve ever interacted with. I love how beautiful he makes me feel every day, and I love how he refused to leave my side when things got tough between us. He is the sweetest and most supportive man I’ve had the privilege to call mine over the last six and a half years.”

Besides being incredibly sweet together, I love how silly Taylor & Nick can be! 😉
