Bride on the steps of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center

Katie’s Bridal Session at the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center in Atlanta, GA was the perfect way to end 2020. We met on what was one of the nicest December days I’ve ever experienced – with temperatures in the high sixties, it was incredibly warm & pleasant, even for a city that has […]

Colleen and David’s wedding at the Cathedral of Christ the King and the Carlos Ballroom at the Hellenic Center in Atlanta was so much fun! I first met Colleen last summer when she was a bridesmaid in Emily & Austin’s wedding! I love Colleen & David’s story. They first met in 6th grade! While they’ve remained great friends over the years, their dating history was a bit more sporadic until they both moved back to Atlanta in early 2016. Then, last fall, David popped the question when they were on a hike on Arabia Mountain, and the rest, as they say, is history! Throughout the wedding day, I loved watching how much fun Colleen & David have together – they’re both energetic and playful people, and they clearly value the relationships in their lives! Capturing their wedding and meeting their family and friends was an absolute joy!

Our day began with capturing bridal details and sweet candids of Colleen & the bridesmaids in the beautiful Bride’s room at Cathedral of Christ the King. Colleen works with the youth at CTK, which made all the pre-ceremony photos and prep there even more special! Once in her gown, the bridesmaids came in for the cutest bridesmaids reveal, and we were blessed with absolutely gorgeous weather for their portraits in the courtyard! Corryn had a blast capturing David and the guys as well before it was time to head inside for the ceremony!

Colleen and David had an early afternoon mass in the grand Cathedral. I loved the expression on David’s face when he saw Colleen coming down the aisle on her father’s arm! Multiple friends and family members made an appearance in one way or the other during mass, and I loved capturing the laughs and sweet looks between David and Colleen over the course of the ceremony as well!

Photos around the Cathedral followed the ceremony before we all headed over the the Carlos Ballroom at the Hellenic Center! After having some fun with the wedding party photos, it was time to focus on the Bride & Groom! I love how sweet Colleen & David are together, and it was so nice to capture a few moments of the pair before everyone headed inside for cocktail hour! Colleen & David surprised everyone with their first dance featuring a mashup of songs describing the flow of their relationship over the years! I loved the enthusiastic spins & twirls as they kicked off the party in style! After the dances with their parents, everyone enjoyed dinner by Proof of the Pudding – they even had a chicken and waffles station! Then, the party really kicked off with the musical stylings of the Voltage Brothers – seriously one of the best bands I’ve seen! They kept the dance floor packed all night!

Colleen & David, capturing your day was such a JOY! Just thinking about your enthusiasm and love for life puts a smile on my face! I’m impressed by your faith, and I’m inspired by the relationships you have in your lives – from the sweet bond you have with your families to the amazing friends that surround you guys! I have loved getting to know you, and I’m so excited for all God has in store for your marriage! I hope these photos will always bring the biggest smiles to your faces! Much love & appreciation – Carrie Joy

The lace of Colleen’s veil provided the perfect texture to her sparkly details!

Check out these expressions!! Ahhhhh… I love Bridesmaids Reveals! 🙂

Isn’t this lovely?!! I absolutely love dresses with bow details, and the long, flowing ribbons on the bridesmaids’ bouquets were the perfect compliment to Colleen’s gown!

This film photo of Colleen & her bridesmaids is one of my favorites! I love this sweet group of girls!

David’s look feels both modern and classic at the same time! The light-colored jacket is perfect for a late spring wedding, and the black bowtie provides just the right amount of contrast!

I love this shot of the newlyweds as they head out for the first time as Husband & Wife!

Aren’t David & Colleen adorable?! These are two of my favorite shots of the day 🙂

This big smile feels so Colleen, and I absolutely love it! Happy brides are the best!

This is one of my favorite photos of the entire day! Can’t you just feel the love & excitement all around them?!

I always love it when we have just a few moments to sneak away for some portraits in that soft sunset glow!

Congratulations, Colleen & David! So excited for you guys!
