Bride on the steps of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center

Katie’s Bridal Session at the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center in Atlanta, GA was the perfect way to end 2020. We met on what was one of the nicest December days I’ve ever experienced – with temperatures in the high sixties, it was incredibly warm & pleasant, even for a city that has […]

Annie and David’s wedding at the Oaks in Madison, Georgia was such an incredible day! And the cherry on top is that it’s being featured over on the Southern Weddings blog today!

I love the way Annie describes their story, “Two people from opposite sides of the country met through chance, became fast friends, went on countless trips and adventures together, and fell in love along the way.” David proposed on a camping trip near Mount Rainier, and the rest, as they say, is history! Since Annie and David love being outdoors, so it was important that they have everything from the ceremony to the reception outside! Annie’s parents home, the Oaks, was built in 1835 and totally fit the look they were going for with the outdoor celebration! And, it was also the perfect nod to Annie’s family heritage! I love that these two were laughing together all day and were so cute and romantic together! From the loving glances to the shared giggles, they were a joy to capture, and I simply loved being around them!

The day started with Annie and her girls getting ready in the gorgeous southern home, and I loved seeing the sweet relationship Annie had with each of the girls! After hair and makeup finished, Annie got into her gown with her Mom, and I was blown away! Annie’s Bo & Luca gown from the Dress Theory is really one of my favorite dresses I’ve ever seen! When she came onto the porch in her gown, the girls squealed in excitement! It was such an adorable moment! And speaking of sweet moments, I had to hold back tears during Annie’s Father/Daughter First Look when both Annie and her Dad were overcome by emotion! Gets me every time! I really enjoyed capturing David with his groomsmen and family as well!

The ceremony overlooked a beautiful field on one side of the property, and a gorgeous asymmetrical floral garland featuring magnolia leaves and flowers was the perfect touch! David’s face as Annie came down the aisle was absolutely priceless, and I love that the couple had both Dads read scripture during the ceremony!

After the ceremony, we took family and wedding party photos while the rest of the guests took a short walk across the property towards the “pole barn” for cocktail hour and the reception! Afterwards, we transitioned into Bride and Groom portraits, and the light was absolutely dreamy! I loved seeing how sweet, silly and romantic Annie and David were together! They also followed the southern tradition of Burying the Bourbon to keep away the rain, and I loved capturing their retrieval & sweet toast before we all headed to the reception! The gorgeous magnolia focused design by Amanda Jewel Floral + Design really complimented the beautiful magnolias found all over the property! After guests enjoyed dinner as the sun was setting, everyone partied into the night!

Annie and David, you are truly a JOY to be around. I’m amazed by the way you both love on and admire each other. I love the way you each plan “surprise dates” and the way you love and serve those around you! Capturing your wedding day was an honor and a joy for me! I hope these photos will bring you back to the joy you felt on Day 1 of your marriage and that your love only gets stronger from here! Much love and appreciation – Carrie Joy
