Happy Spring, friends! There’s nothing quite like this time of year — after what felt like a long winter, the azaleas are in full bloom, flowers cover the trees, and perhaps best of all, we get those gorgeous evenings full of sunlight back!! And, I’m so glad we were able to schedule engagement photos at Cator Woolford Gardens on Mindy & Alex’s latest visit from Chicago; it was the perfect way to celebrate this gorgeous time of year!
From the shared laughs to twirls in gorgeous sunset light, I’m so excited to share this adorable session with you today! Mindy and Alex not only have a beautiful story, but their joy, laughter and warmth really spill over into the images! Scroll on to read their story and see some of my favorites from our time together!
“Alex and Mindy met while they were both at Emory University for college. One very sunny February afternoon, Mindy was having lunch with a friend in between classes. The dining hall they were at was very busy, and it just so happened that Alex and his roommate were also there looking for an empty table. Mindy’s friend quickly invited Alex and his roommate over to join them for lunch, and Alex met Mindy for the first time. They bonded over their mutual love of table tennis and the NBA and spent the next year exploring delicious restaurants and taking long walks around Atlanta. The pursuit of further education led to four years of long distance, with Mindy moving to Chicago and Alex remaining in Georgia, but they maintained their love and support for one another through countless FaceTime calls, WeChat stickers, and regular visits. After graduating from medical school, Alex matched into a residency program in Chicago, which allowed them to finally be together in the same city once again!”
Mindy, what is it about Alex that you love the most? – “There are countless attributes I love about Alex, from his ability to make me cry-laugh even after seven years of being together to how much I feel at home whenever I’m with him. I love how Alex has such a generous heart and constantly strives to help others whenever he can. Even after a long day at work, he will come home and continue to think about how he can provide his patients with the best possible care. He cares deeply and is very protective of those he loves and often takes the time to show that (during finals week in college, he woke up early to drive to my apartment and give me a ride to campus just because he didn’t want me to walk in the rain!), regardless of how busy his schedule can be. Alex truly is my better half — his sense of care for those around him constantly inspires me to do the same.”
Alex, what is it about Mindy that you love the most? – “I sincerely admire and love Mindy’s devotion to family. As the eldest of three children, she has always cared deeply for her siblings and paved a path for success for them. She is a devoted daughter who never fails to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices and struggles her parents had to endure in order to provide for a better life for their children. Mindy’s strong sense of family has translated to a steadfast commitment and loyalty to her friends as well as to our relationship, and it is something I respect greatly. On a day to day basis, however, it is her sense of humor and constant laughter that allow me to fall in love each time all over again.”
About the Proposal – “Alex always knew he wanted to make the proposal special and unforgettable. Paris seemed like a fitting, albeit cliché, place, and autumn felt like the perfect time. Not one for huge, public spectacles, Alex ruled out common spots, such as the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre, and instead developed a list of potential places to pop the question once the moment felt right. With the ring in tow, the couple explored Paris for three days, yet the perfect moment never presented itself. Finally, on the last day of the trip, Alex and Mindy were taking a stroll through the Montmartre region. They found themselves in the romantic garden of Square Jehan Rictus, and Alex knew it was finally time. With a sweeping sunset view of Paris in the background, he got down on one knee and asked Mindy to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes!”
Congratulations, Mindy & Alex! I can’t wait for your wedding at the Greystone at Piedmont Park in October!
